Make a fundable.com thingy, that way people can pledge without paying until the actual needed amount has been reached. That way you don't get the situation where you take on donations but not quite enough to do the job, so they aren't useful.

I would consider it, for posterity's sake.
However, I question what money would change.
Hiring a designer and developer to do a redesign isn't going to help I don't think. I can't elucidate why that is at this time - it's simply my intuition.

not to be too negative, but like most topics on this site, a lot of opinions but never any actions.... this is probably why there is a "Top of 2004" link still under the charts tab... 
Honestly, this site has been always stagnant.... if someone really wanted things to change, the edits would have happened by now
