I think it doesn't make any sense.

You expect a site for amateurs to give you pro advices and pro reviews? I don't get it. If you need specific information, like how to master a bassdrum, then do some research, ask on forums at sites that have some pro sound people. This is a scene community site. Here you show your music to your fellows and comment others' songs. What you feel about it. No experts and no professional critique, just us and our music, in one nice place. You want one scene site to cover all your various needs? :)

You want pro reviews? Then don't leave reviewing to random amateur people, just hire those who know how to do it! Anyway, it's pretty funny how the expectations of CTG evolve. This site appeared here and was even advertised as a free one, without restrictions, without complicated systems for everything and so on and so on. Now on of the webmaster leaves because it has gone exactly it this direction. I understand that of course, everybody's goals can change and stuff.

I'm not here for reviews. I'm not here for tips, I haven't got much of them here anyway. I wouldn't mind if I got no reviews, it's nice to know people listened to your stuff and have something to say, but it's not what keeps me here. :) I'm here for the community of sceners. This site is not a resource of knowledge and don't count that it will be if you introduce reviewing systems and moderate forums. To achieve this, you would need a competent staff that has wide musical knowledge and experience.

Heh, Analysis, sorry but saying you've grown beyond the stage of melody and structure is rather funny. :) No, of course it's not that you're arrogant. But you seem to treat melodies and structure as something you learn and then proceed to other stuff... I honestly don't think it's like this - you can always learn a lot about melodies even if you're already aiming to have the best soundquality ever. Anyway, this is not a community that would help you more with getting pro at melodies, than with EQing, mastering and whatever.

My final word (and tip): this is not the only place you can access in the internet. There _are_ places that can teach you a lot. Music theory, mastering, EQing, even playing a jew's-harp I believe. CTG is a scene site, that's why I like it so much.

Sorry for my grumbling. I had a pretty strong coffee today, and that little party at work made me slightly over-talkative. :monkey:
:wall:
I'll be good from now on. ;)

He, he. You've said it Cooth. I don't get Analysis either. I mean, I consider myself as an amateur musician. I like to make music. So, melody and structure is the most important thing, and will always be, no matter how good I am. If an artist gets pro, he will have their tunes sold on CD, and an engineer will probably do the mastering work.

Good to see you go. You've never been a scener and never will be, and as far as I'm concerned you've never done it any good. As far as I'm concerned you shouldn't make that CD because you have no right to fly the scene flag. Stick to your trance.

Uhm, that's not what I intended to say. You are never there, with every musical thing. I can grow in melodies, and I can surely grow on structure. I just need to know more about my track.

I know szartd usually gets reviews like: Awesome track, and I like this, and I liked that and I liked that and I liked pretty much everyhing. I'm sorry, but you get tired of that sometimes.
I've been to MPC, to the forums, and I just dont like it anymore. I've been there, I've done it. I know what everyones problem is, and I can help them, but eventually music is something you need to do more to get better. You can get a hell of a lot of advise, but you'll get only better by making it.
And no, I'm not here for reviews only. What I express is not only found in reviews, but in the entire site. Forums, they aren't about certain specific things, but about major issues, and about the site itself.
All I want to do it to make music. I have got many, many contacts that can help me with that, and I'm helping them. They give me advise while we chat, giving me the opportunity to rebuilt my track while chatting. I learn a lot that way. It's far more usefull then a site like this.

I don't really know why(I guess a major thing is what it said above), but I've just lost my interest in the scene when HM died. I didnt lose my musical interest and I'm still in the scene(labels: N-zone, DWP, subco, scientific) I'm not checking there forums or such, I'm just into their music. :)

I see, then I got you wrong, sorry. :)
Still you sound like someone visiting a page just for information that will help you 'grow up' as a musician. I don't see it like that. As I said, I like CTG not because I learn from it, I think I rather don't actually. It's just about the people. :)

About reviews and forums, yes I agree. I treat them very light, just to know who liked, who didn't... so I don't get really tired. :) In fact, I never sought any tips or help with improving my music on community sites, I visit them for pure fun and the feeling of belonging to the online scene world. When I wanted to learn something, I did research in the web, or for example bought some simple piano course in a music store (at the beginning of my 'career' ;) ) and things like that... :)

Maybe that's why I'm advocating the idea of sustaining CTG's current character. :)

Cheers dude ;)
