Dear Anyone.
I've got a disability so I have to use a notation package. I've got Sion Quick Score Elite, which is Rewire Compatible (if this has any relevance to the question - I don't know!)
I've also got a LEGAL, Bought copy of Kontakt. What I want to do is use it as a plug-in with Quick Score Elite, so I can put notes in Quick Score and hear Kontakt sounds coming out. Right.
Quick Score has 2 relevant sub-folders, one containing the program, one called VST Plug-ins. So I installed Kontakt into the VST folder (as that's where I wanted to use it from, it seemed logical to put it there) and when I tried putting a note - a SINGLE note, it was! - into QSE I got the MOTHER of all MIDI feedback loops. I had to pull the plug on the comp or I'm sure I'd've lost my soundcard.
Uninstalled Kontakt. Reinstalled the soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile 2496) Reinstalled Kontakt and used it as a standalone once - I read that on the Web - so it can find its libraries.
Please, how do I put it in the QSE folder without getting another HUGE MIDI loop?
Yours hopefully
Christopher Burke - complete newbie - there might be another couple of stoooopid questions before I can get started on the music, I'm afraid. I'm so far behind in knowledge I can't even use the online tutorials yet. |

So.... did you tinker some with the midi routing, have never heard of "midi" feedback before....
Anyways generally putting vst's in the right place is usually ..../program files/vstplugins or "someprogram path"/vstplugins, nothing wrong with that.
Anyhow's, do you have some equipment that is oddly routed with midi? as in both midi in and out go to the same instrument or something? |

I will have to agree with Tyr here, it smells "midi routing" to me. There is no way placing a vst in the right folder alone could create a mid loop. And by the way a midi loop could never damage your soundcard nor is a problem solved by reinstallation of software . MAke sure that you did not have done anything to create that midi loop by the routing of your midi tracks.
Is there a panic button on the software you use ? did you use it ? did it work ?
A midi loop could possible made by a bug in the programm , but it would be rare case.
If you can upload a video on youtube with what you have done to create the problem.
