How often does an honest to god member here mention viagra exept when making fun of spambots and the bottomfeeding scum that made them?
I think banning those posts would decrease the workload on admins considerably and would mean less eyesores when visits the forums.
What do you guys think? |

There are some problems in Banning a forum topic/post with the constant "Viagra"
there may be a song named viagra.
someone could actually be talking about viagra.
also, unlike email, CTG forums are not poluted with viagra spam.
It is definitely something to look into, but I personally think manually hiding spam threads is worth it right now.

Well, if you have a song called viagra you can find a way around it, but banning posts containing "online pharmacy" "viagra" etc will at least make your job alot easier since those spambots do not think for themselves |

Word filter systems usually don't work in the end, because they can be so easily circumvented. For example, maybe I write viagra, but then again maybe I write via gra, or viiagra, etc.
One thing that's been done on another community, was create a "spam board" above all other forums. The forum's threads are set to be moderator-approved before they appear publicly; the point being, that spambots will find the first available forum, and post in it, without knowing that their post won't in fact show up. It's not a catch-all, but it should reduce quite a lot of spam posts/threads and it did on the forum from which I got the idea. |
