CTG is a great site.
Why?

1. It has good oldschool design. Modern sites are usually based on CMS and engines and all look alike and traditional.

2. For the same reason CTG forum is cool. It is not a phpBB. It is original and it looks very good, it is very functional and over the years all bugs if there were any were fixed.

3. CTG has a good structure, at the same time having a lot of possibilities. I haven't seen a site have so many sections you can uncover and use.

4. We love it. Yes, we love CTG. For many of us it is a source of nostalgia, for others it is just a platform they like, for no logical reason.

There. Proven.

Now, because CTG is a great site, it is a pity to see the great site go to waste. Correct?
But so many times have people, including myself, tried to make it liveable again. And we all miserably failed.

And you know why?

Simple. We tried to MAKE it liveable. We assumed something was wrong with it, with the functionality. We started relying on coders and admins to solve things for us.

Today I propose an absolutely different thing. And to give it a snappy title, let's call it CTG Renaissance.

What is CTG Renaissance?
It is our way of making CTG exciting for ourselves. And this way does not involve waiting for someone to code a magic widget that would make us happy. It is a way when we rely solely on our love to this site.

Practical propositions:
1. Each person who wants to be part of CTG Renaissance makes it his daily discipline to visit CTG forums at least once a day, every day.
2. From this day on we treat CTG as a site that does not require any special measures for it to be fun. Look around - it is a great site! We are the core of it.
3. If we have an idea - we post it here. If we have new music - we post it here. If we have news or something to share - we post it here. We make a choice of a community on the web and this choice is CTG.

Internet has changed. Now everybody can find their hosting, running a portal is relatively cheap, the possibilities are grand. We can solve our problems by ourselves. If someone does not have hosting, we'll help out or recommend a good hosting service, thanks to the fact there are zillions of them. If there is a spammer, we have moderators to chase them away and that moderation is quite enough.

Even if CTG Renaissance will be 3 people visiting daily and considering CTG their POWER, it will be victory. Not many people today have a place where they really want and like to be.

I choose CTG. Do you?

hmmm...
I like some of this.
However, when one sort of, forces oneself to participate for the sake of participating, things will become corrupt.

I love the aspect of ACTION though.
I agree, you must take initiative and just go ahead, present your ideas, do the absolute maximum you can to solve these ideas, and then start its growth from there.

its not easy to do, in that it requires effort, that's the problem with many internet communities these days. No one likes effort.
In the world of presets, templates, and pre-produced-pre-made-pre-everything, new standards form and new crowds appear.

But if we can find the ones who are willing and just exploding with initiative and effort.
...well, in Louigi's word's

Well, I have an idea which is maybe too harsh in some aspects, but honestly the site is DEAD, so it's necessary to make drastic movements if we want to resurrect it.

1.DROP THE HELL OUT all of those users whom doesn't used their account in the last one or two years. We don't need them anymore, simply erase their profile. I bet most of their links are already dead.

2.NEW REGISTRATION could possible only with INVITATIONs.Invitations could be gave by current ARTISTS/USERS and only in limited numbers, once in a week or something. Why? If it will be a nice place, new users will surely find their way to registering, and there won't be hundreds of fake, mindless downloader-zombies anymore between our members.

3.YOUR EVERY ACTION GENERATES ACTIVITY-POINTS. Writing into the forums, downloading, commenting, reviewing, and all of the other actions could make activity-points. I think this site is mostly dead because of the lack of activity. Well, then we should FORCE our members to act. If you didn't get enough activity points in a period (in 3 months or half year) then you WILL BE KICKED THE HELL OUT from here. Offcourse we must make these limits reachable, for example 4-5 download, 2 review,5 comments should be enough for 3 months or something like that. It causes to lurkers like me MUST HAVE to act much more, if they don't want to get erased. And believe me, I don't want. :) Activity-points should be the new essentials of our site. What if not, and only 10 people remains here? WHO CARES? At least they would be an active community and that's the goal in my opinion.

High activity points could give more and more privileges for the users, I dunno, faster reviews for your track or a special avatar, rank, or hosting-possibility,think about that.

4.I GUESS WE HAVE TO MAKE SOME EXCEPTIONS. There are some artist whom discharged from these new expectations. I mean we have some true legends like Xerxes or Acecream etc. whose profile could be untouchable. Some artis who did so many things already for this community which is surely must have to enough for thousand years without losing their account.

Well, these are the basics, I didn't expect anything, the first "What should we do to make CTG survive?"-type topics are around 3 or 4 years old, so I'm a bit sceptical...

Great points, but they have one negative side - they require a programmer. My suggestion is an ability to have some fun with noone from administration involved ) After all why wait for money from the sky when the gold is on teh ground? =)

What would CTG be or do without good old Louigi. :) I do come here every now and then, I even write a few words to the forums sometimes. The only problem is that I don't really have much to say these days, especially about music. But I haven't forgotten about this place, that's for sure.
